Report: Fulham have unfinished business as they look to bring back loanee from last season

|

Guess who’s back, back again?

Well, he’s not back yet, just getting myself warmed up for when or if the club do decide to make the move happen at some point in the near future, because reports are suggesting we could be making a move to bring someone back to Craven Cottage.

According to a report from Football Insider, Fulham are trying to re-sign Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo. The 25-year-old signed for us on loan back in January, but he only played two games for us before being ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

And whilst it would certainly be a step forward in what we should be looking to achieve in this transfer window, given that we have been crying out for a centre-back for some time now, I’m not sure if this is the player that we want to be bringing into the club.

Is a new CB our priority this window?

Yes

No

Whilst he does tick the box of having Premier League experience, as well as having to go through a relegation battle, I just don’t think his name is the most inspiring of those out there that could help us in a fight to stay up this season.

I’ve seen us linked with the likes of Juan Foyth in recent days, who is arguably more realistic than signing someone like Jonathan Tah, and is also of a much higher calibre than Kongolo, coming from a top-six side, and also becoming a regular for Argentina in the past few seasons.

If Kongolo were to be brought in, hopefully he’d be a rotational centre-half rather than a first choice, because whilst he showed some promise during his time with us (clearly enough for Scott Parker to want him back), I don’t think that relying on him on a regular basis would be the best way to try and stay up.

What about you? What do you make of this talk of centre-backs?

We seem to be mentioned with every transfer going on, but every other club beat us to it. It’s about time we did something, otherwise it championship here we come again.
