Our quest for European glory commences tonight with a Europa League qualifying tie against the Faroe Islands minnows – NSI Runavik.

To say it`s an early start to the season is an under-statement, nevertheless, it`s time to knuckle down, shake the rustiness out of the legs and produce a performance that augers well for the rest of the campaign, even if it is only June.

Yesterday, we admitted to knowing very little about the likely starting eleven that Martin Jol will select, but this morning we have a slightly better tale to tell.

It`s become apparent that Fulham will be without the services of two players who have been actively involved in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, namely Clint Dempsey and Carlos Salcido, who have been playing for America and Mexico respectively.

Also not available, but this time through injury, is Moussa Dembele, with the forward carrying an ankle knock.

But, in the squad and quite possibly likely to taste, for the first time, some European action are two promising youngsters in Lauri Dalla Valle (aged 19) and Kerim Frie (aged 17).

With Fulham offering reduced admission prices, the turnout should be higher than initially expected. Suddenly the game has taken on a whole new complexion.
