“Self-indulgent bit of arrogance”: Former Fulham skipper rips current White’s penalty antics

|

Something in the back of my mind was hoping that this man had something to say on the matter.

Because let’s face it, when it comes to penalties and Fulham, one of the first people that Fulham fans think about will more than likely be Danny Murphy, who had a very good record when it came to spot kicks during his time at Craven Cottage (although not a perfect one).

Although for different reasons, after this weekend’s incident against West Ham United, people might start to think of something a little different when it comes to Fulham and penalties as Ademola Lookman ruined a chance for Fulham to grab a late point.

Talking to talkSPORT, the former Fulham captain gave his views on the matter, and he explained how dumbfounded he was at the incident:

Would you drop Lookman for what he did?

Yes

No

I agree with Murphy’s comments whole-heartedly, especially the opening line about it coming from a player that has some clout within the game and the situation. For a young player to try something like that does show a bit of arrogance in my mind, a sort of ‘I’m above this’ sort of attitude, and hopefully this comes and humbles him, powering him on to much better things both with us and the rest of his career.

As I said yesterday, we can’t afford to drop him because he’s arguably been one of our best players, but hopefully some punishment and learning curve pops up through all of this.

What about you? Do you agree with Murphy’s comments about Lookman?
