Report: Fulham preparing €18m+ bid for Barcelona man who will provide the best of both worlds

|

Now, this signing could very well be the best of both worlds.

Not only is he a big imposing presence, something that I’ve been calling for since we were linked with Jonathan Tah, but also could fit in very well with our style of passing out from the back. OK, it’s not quite Gerard Pique, but it’s a step forward at least.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, Fulham are preparing to make a bid for Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo. Barcelona are clearly going through a bit of a fire-sale at the moment, best epitomised by the sale of Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid, and it looks as if we’re going to be the latest ones to try and cash in on that, with the report stating we’re going to offer €18m upfront with an extra €5m in various add-ons at a later date.

Now again, I’ll admit I don’t know much about him, but on the surface, as I said earlier he appears to be the ideal signing for us to make. Standing at 6’3 he will give us that physical factor that we desperately need to defend at set-pieces, demonstrated by the second goal we conceded against Arsenal.

How many CBs will we sign next window?

2 or fewer

More than 2

And not only that, he’s proven to be very capable of passing the ball as well, with a career average of 86.3% pass completion rate, even getting up to as high as 96.1% when he was at the Nou Camp last season.

Is that enough to justify what is essentially blind faith in hoping that he might be the answer to our prayers at the back? Probably not. But given how badly we need something to happen right now to save us from falling further and further into the hole we’re in, it might be the best we can hope for.

What about you? What do you make of this latest player we’ve been linked with?
