Opinion: Important that Fulham get the balance right in their cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday

|

This game poses a very tricky question.

This game against Sheffield Wednesday is very finely balanced between the need to rest players, yet at the same time make sure that we use this time to give the team as much time together so that they can continue to work on the problems that have hampered us in the early two league games of the campaign.

Not just in defence, but also in defence as well, despite the three goals we scored on Saturday against Leeds. So what do we do about it?

I think we need to use a mixture of the two personally. Some players need to be given their time off, most notably Aleksandar Mitrovic up front, Harrison Reed in midfield and Joe Bryan in defence, but at the same time we do need to make sure a lot more of our players, particularly our new signings, continue to get used to each other.

Will Parker play a weakened team against Sheff Wed?

Yes

No

So that’s why I’ve gone with this team, one that should hopefully do the job of beating a middle of the road Championship team (when you factor out the points deduction), whilst also keeping key men fit for the games going forward:

What about you? What team would you play against Sheffield Wednesday tonight?
