“Gutted for him”: Athletic journalist describes nightmare scenario for Fulham man

|

Sometimes you just know when your luck is out.

And for Aleksander Mitrovic, it is very much out right now. Having not scored since the second game of the season for his club, missing a crucial penalty against Sheffield United, being caught up in the controversy over Ademola Lookman’s penalty against West Ham United, now he finds himself missing arguably the biggest penalty of his life as Serbia missed out on European Qualification to Scotland.

And his misfortune was probably best summed up by these words from Fulham’s Athletic correspondent Peter Rutzler, who pointed out on social media that it seems rather sad for him to be going through this stretch, particularly after the campaign that he has had so far:

Is Aleksandar Mitrovic our most important player?

Yes

No

I just hope that Mitrovic comes back from this international break no too down heartened, because we are going to need him to be firing when he comes back to us. We’ve got arguably our toughest run of fixtures coming up and if we are to get anything out of them, even if it’s just one or two points, then he is more than likely going to be an integral part of that.

And if that slump continues on for much longer, you just start to wonder when, if at all, he’s ever going to come out of it.

What about you? What have you made of Mitrovic’s recent form?

Mitrovic definitely needs a short break. He was superb last season . Now he needs to reassess himself.
Fulham managed whilst he was suspended. He does not appear to be in the right place at the right time.
    He will do it.
