Exclusive: Fulham submit £12m bid for one of the biggest prospects in the Championship

|

Now this would really be a sign of intent heading into the season.

Grabbing not just one, but two of the Championship’s best full-backs and adding them to the depth we have at the club. I’ll tell you what, it’s a lot smarter business than we went through last time around.

According to a source close to Vital Fulham, the club have submitted a £12m bid for Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash, and are now awaiting a response from Sabri Lamouchi’s men on whether or not they want to accept it. Previous reports have suggested that it would cost £15m to make them part ways, so don’t expect it to go anywhere quite yet.

Cash has gone through a major transformation this season, from being a pretty middle of the pack winger in the Championship to one of the best right-backs in it over the course of the past season, getting to a stage where he is wanted by a whole host of Premier League teams, and now you can add us to that list of clubs that want him.

How much will Fulham spend this winter?

Less than £10m

More than £10m

And whilst Fulham already have one good quality right-back in the form of Cyrus Christie, who didn’t exactly disgrace himself last time out in the division, adding Cash into that spot as well (assuming that is where he is going to play and he’s not being brought to supplement the likes of Anthony Knockaert and Ivan Cavaleiro), then we are really setting ourselves up for a solid season in the division.

And if we do sadly suffer relegation (call me a pessimist if you like, but it’s a high probability), then he will be an excellent piece to either play when we go down or sell him off to rebuild the next squad.

Either way, to quote Professor Hulk from Avengers: Endgame, ‘I see this as an absolute win’.
