Enjoy The Moment My Fulham Brethren

|

Southampton, at home, was always going to be a must-win fixture.

After replacing Slavisa Jokanovic in the managerial hot-seat, Claudio Ranieri knew, with two tough games to come, against Chelsea (a) and Leicester City (h), he needed to start his reign with a victory.

That was exactly what the Italian did with his charges coming from behind to snatch all three points in a dramatic victory that saw the side raucously cheered off the side by the Craven Cottage support.

The win has given us all a confidence lift ahead if the challenge to come and, hopefully, we can string a run of results together.

Talking to the media, as reported by the BBC, Claudio had this to say:

“It was important to come back and come back with a victory. It is a little step but important for the enthusiasm and everything.

“It is important to continue in this way. Now we have to forget what we did and improve. Next is Chelsea and it is important to maintain ambition and mentality.

“I am confident with my team. We made some good things but we have to work hard to improve on defence.”

Yes, we certainly do.

Going behind to Southampton ensured that Fulham maintained that unwanted record of being the only Premier League side to not keep a clean sheet this season.

But, more worryingly, if we continue to ship goals with the same regularity, we’re sure to come up against sides that are able to defend far better than Southampton did and will frustrate us.

But, after a fine win, let’s take time out to enjoy the moment.
