“Tweak a little bit”: Championship boss hints at changes that might affect Fulham loanee

|

Returning so soon?

That could be the situation facing one of Fulham’s loan players following some comments made by his head coach yesterday. Anthony Knockaert hasn’t had the best of times with his current club Nottingham Forest, scoring just one goal and failing to provide an assist in his eleven appearances so far.

And things haven’t been going well for the rest of the Forest side either, as they currently sit just one place above the relegation zone in the Championship, even with the change of head coach things haven’t been going well for them. And speaking after their recent defeat to Norwich, Forest boss Chris Hughton suggested that there may be some changes happening to a squad that clearly isn’t getting the job done right now:

“At this moment we haven’t made any decisions about January. We know we have got a lot of players who came in in the summer. We will look if we can, to tweak a little bit… but I certainly don’t see anything wholesale happening”

Now he didn’t mention any names specifically, but let’s be honest here, if Knockaert isn’t producing then he could be one of the names that could be up for the chop and potentially sent back to us whilst they look for a better option.

Do we need a new right-winger this January window?

Yes

No

Which then leaves us with the unenviable task of finding something to do with him. I’ve spoken before about our problems on the wing and how we have too many players, perhaps why he needed to leave in the first place. The question then becomes do we sell him, or try and loan him out again? FIFA have said that players can play for more than two clubs this season, so him moving on is an option.

Personally, I would sell him. I wasn’t his biggest fan in the Championship, and I think he’d be out of his depth in the Premier League, as he was in previous seasons with other clubs. There’s no need for us to keep hold of him, and we could use the money on someone that might actually make an impact for us in the future.

What about you? What do you make of Knockaert’s future? Both at Nottingham Forest and at Fulham?
