“Too many risks”: Fulham journalist details how Whites are on the verge of getting things right

|

I’m not going to claim that I’m some sort of Nostra Damus.

It’s not as if this hasn’t been plainly obvious for people to see all season long. But when something like this, something that I’ve been writing about a lot recently, appears to come from a more prominent news source than I, then you start to realise that I might just be onto something.

Writing in a recent article for The Athletic, journalist Peter Rutzler details how Fulham have been steadily improving this season and are really on the verge of being able to finally compete at a Premier League level on a regular basis rather than losing every week:

Will we stay up?

Yes

No

Perhaps this is all the result of us not having a true ‘pre-season’ as it were. Given the turnaround between the end of last season and the start of this one, combined with the fact we didn’t really have that many warmup games (indeed the club only list one game being played), it would have taken some time for players to get used to each other.

Now, in a sense we could be reaching the end of our ‘tune-up period’ when it comes to games that we’ve played so far, and now is the time that we’re finally going to see us play to our true potential, in the sense that once the players are more familiar with how they play together they’ll achieve better results.

Admittedly we may not see it given that we’ve got three incredibly tough opponents coming up, but so long as the performance is there, we might just see something.

What about you? What do you make of our start to the season? And how soon do you think we’ll be able to play like we want to play?
