There was no great conspiracy relating to the absence of both Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora from the eighteen named for the fixture against Chelsea yesterday.
It transpires that both were injured with Johnson having picked up a groin problem and Zamora an Achilles problem prompting Martin Jol to explain,
“Sometimes you have to take a gamble, and that is what we did today. Our two main strikers dropped out so we had to come up with something else. I think it paid off.”
It may have but does anyone else get the impression from those words that Jol seems to believe we can do without both Johnson and Zamora on a long term basis?
