Talking With a Hammer!

With our clash against West Ham United fast approaching, we took timeout to talk to Vinny of www.westhamonline.net.

Here`s how it went,

1. Have the events of this week and the Tevez debacle shocked you?
Not not at all. We knew that it was never going to go away, and Sheffield have always been looking for some sort of compensation. It’s been talked about so much it has become very boring. Are we worried? Are we f**k. They will claim £30million – they will never get it.

2. Are you happy with the appointment of Zola?

I am. That`s not to say everyone is and many are unhappy that such an inexperienced manager has been put in charge. Personally I am optimistic that he will bring a brand of football to the club that we have craved and make us an attractive side to watch again. He talks a good game but time will tell whether he can be a top class manager.

3. Were you surprised when Zamora and Pantsil were allowed to leave?

Everyone has made an issue of this because of the sales of McCartney and Ferdinand. If they were for the money, Zamora and Pantsil certainly were not. Zamora has been plodding along for a few seasons and whilst he did well for the club, it was always evident that he wasn’t a Premiership striker. Pantsil became a cult hero but people seemed to overlook his dismal performances. The amount of money we got for them was unbelievable really and I thank Fulham for buying two of our fringe players.

4. Sum up your season so far?

5 league games, 3 wins, a number of goals and terrible away from home. I expect us to turn it around on the road soon but defensively we do look weak and this is something you may exploit. So far though, with Alan Curbishley finally gone, things are looking up.

5. How do you think your season will go?

We are out of the league cup already, but I expect us to have a decent season and with the players we have got no doubt we will finish between 9th and 11th

6. Which Fulham players are you wary off?

Bullard is always the one to look at because he brings so much to the Fulham side. But you have three ex West Ham players and it would be fitting for one or even all three to score against us. Fulham are playing a much better brand of football thanks to an excellent manager that you have.

7. A prediction for Saturday?

I’ve got to be optimistic and say 2-0 West Ham!

Once again our thanks got to Vinny and let`s hope the best side (us) win on Saturday!
