Let me tell you a story!

Years ago when things were not quite right, when things had gone wrong and in times when anguish was etched all over my face, my grandma used to cuddle me and tell me things would be all right in the end. She was rarely wrong!

Sadly she passed away numerous years ago but it in this moment in time I could do with some words of comfort. It`s Christmas time and I`m feeling absolutely gutted.

I`d hoped that our abysmal run of twenty-five games without a win in the Premier League would come to an end, instead we were thrashed off the park and now the harsh realisation that, unless we get a miracle, relegation is a certainty.

For the fixture against Spurs, Lewington exercised his new authority by recalling Baird, Smertin and Ki-Hyeon. It was supposed to make us more resolute, harder to score against and in with a shout.

It failed abysmally!

In the first half we were rank, we never looked like scoring and by the time the whistle blew we were already two goals down this despite the heroics of Anti Niemi.

The first saw Robbie Keane net after Steed Malbranque had seen his effort come back off the post whilst the second saw Tom Huddlestone drill home a shot from twenty-five yards.

I normally hate half time but at least it gave us fifteen minutes respite!

The second half saw us start better; we even managed to get back into the game when the reliable Clint Dempsey reduced the arrears. Unfortunately any hope lasted only two minutes before it was extinguished, snuffed out like a candle in a stiff breeze when Robbie Keane netted his second of the game.

Nine minutes later Huddlestone got his second and it was become embarrassing. Matters were compounded when Volz, on his comeback, received a red card and then just so we`d all have a miserable journey home, Jermaine Defoe made it five!

I think we`re in trouble!

Anyone out there fancy the managers job?
