Fulham stalwart Papa Bouba Diop has signed a new contract with the club until 2009.

After months of intense discussions with club officials he has finally put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the club until 2009.

Diop has been a big hit at the club since his arrival from Lens in 2004 and the news of his signature will boost the club who are still looking to ensure Premiership safety after a stuttering campaign.

?I am very happy to have signed a new deal with Fulham as I enjoy playing for this club?, Diop told Fulhamfc.com.

?I have been out for a while because of the African Cup of Nations and injury and I am looking forward to joining the club on Saturday at Sunderland, as obviously it has been very difficult for me not to play with the team.

?I am determined to help finish the season on a high note by playing my part in the remaining games, and am looking forward to my future being with Fulham.?
