Niemi to Spurs?

Our popular Finnish international keeper, Anti Niemi, is attracting the attention of other Premiership clubs.

Anti, who only has a year left on his contract, is, reportedly, being watched by both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal who are both said to be considering making a bid for his services.

Anti has been a popular figure at Craven Cottage since joining from Southampton and if Fulham were to be relegated would no doubt like to continue his career in the Premiership.

Out of the two named clubs, it is likely that Arsenal would probably be the preferred option. At Tottenham, Anti would run the risk of playing second fiddle to Paul Robinson. However, the Arsenal situation is completely different. Their German keeper, Lehmann, has yet to commit himself to the club and signing Niemi would instantly give Arsenal a top class keeper.

Staying with the keeper situation, Fulham could be further depleted in that department with Tony Warner remarking in a recent interview that he`d like to stay at Norwich, where he has been on loan.

Clearly, Lawrie Sanchez, or whoever is in the hot-seat come the close season, will have a lot of wheeling and dealing to do with regard to the rare breed of men who chose to stand guard between the sticks.
