For ten minutes it looked as if we were about to crash out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, victims of a cup-upset, against Blackpool.

As it turned out, an unlikely hero emerged in the shape of Giorgis Karagounis with the Greek international smashing home a splendid equaliser, prompting Martin Jol to remark after the dust had died down,

“We needed a bit of luck ad a bit of quality. When you have Giorgis, it helps.”

“He`s been in the team over the last three games and I told him maybe he could play 60 minutes – but I had to leave him on because I had made all my subs.”

“He`s not only a legend in his own country, but he`s a warrior for us. Out of nothing he scored today but you can watch on You Tube, he`s done it eight or nine times.”

Well he sure saved our skins!
