Healy – I`m Staying Put!

Our Northern Ireland international striker, David Healy, has been linked to numerous clubs as his Fulham career has kind of stuttered along during that vital first season with us.

Despite setting a new international scoring record, Healy has only scored six goals in a Fulham shirt and has only featured in the starting eleven twelve times this season.

The statistics would seem to indicate that the Irishman might well be contemplating life away from Craven Cottage where guaranteed first team football might be a preferred option; however, that is not the case.

Speaking to the media, Healy has confirmed that he wants to remain at Craven Cottage remarking,

“I want to be part of this, whatever the future is. I am as committed as anybody here.”

“I am still under the same contract that I signed when I came here.”

“The amount of games I have played is disappointing.”

“Everybody wants to play minutes, win games and score goals. But I want to be part of this, whatever the future is. Hopefully it will be bright.”

Personally, whilst I have every admiration for his international scoring record, I still have my doubts that he can cut it in domestic football at this level.

Have I gauged this one right or wrong?
