The Keller Conundrum!

With talk of life in the Championship becoming more prevalent by the day, rumours are surfacing from within the Fulham camp that certain players are already expressing a wish to stay and help try and get Fulham, if it happens, back into the Premier League.

One of these is our ageing goalkeeper Kasey Keller.

Last night the Evening Standard carried a brief article whereby Keller has expressed a wish to start talks with the club about a contract renewal / extension.

Here`s what he had to say,

“I`ve let the club know that I would definitely be willing to sit down and talk about next year.”

The quote remains open to interpretation.

Does Keller want to talk about staying or does the sit down suggestion relate to a future elsewhere if we do go down?

Personally, whilst I appreciate that the ageing keeper has done a decent enough job when called upon this season, I have to ask that if we do get relegated and we need to construct a squad capable of getting promotion and staying in the Premier League, should we not be looking towards someone who is a little more youthful?

After all, if Niemi stays as well, our keeping department will hardly be flushed with youth will it?
