Much was made of the recent barren run of Bobby Zamora and two goals in two games seemed to ease the pressure.
Yesterday, against Manchester United, the front-man didn`t have have much luck apart from a few touches that presented team-mates with half chances.
But, speaking about his recent goal drought, Bobby has talked about the effect it had on him commenting,
“I didn`t go that deep into the stats or even know how many games it was to be honest.”
“I knew it had been a while, but all strikers go through that.”
“Peter Crouch went something like 13 games without a goal playing for Liverpool, who are a great attacking team that create a lot of chances.”
“I think other people made more of it. I`d say 95 per cent of the fans that go to the games and see the other things I do for the team are behind me.”
“There are obviously one or two who aren`t, but I will win them over 100 per cent, don`t worry about that. “
“I doubt very much I would go on that kind of run again. “
“If we were to start from scratch tomorrow, it wouldn`t happen like that again, I guarantee that. I`ve never scored against United, but to do it in the cup would be right up there with the best goals of my career, without a shadow of a doubt.”
Let`s hope that the team can start scoring as two games without a goal are starting to get me a little worried!
