Much was made of the recent barren run of Bobby Zamora and two goals in two games seemed to ease the pressure.

Yesterday, against Manchester United, the front-man didn`t have have much luck apart from a few touches that presented team-mates with half chances.

But, speaking about his recent goal drought, Bobby has talked about the effect it had on him commenting,

“I didn`t go that deep into the stats or even know how many games it was to be honest.”

“I knew it had been a while, but all strikers go through that.”

“Peter Crouch went something like 13 games without a goal playing for Liverpool, who are a great attacking team that create a lot of chances.”

“I think other people made more of it. I`d say 95 per cent of the fans that go to the games and see the other things I do for the team are behind me.”

“There are obviously one or two who aren`t, but I will win them over 100 per cent, don`t worry about that. “

“I doubt very much I would go on that kind of run again. “

“If we were to start from scratch tomorrow, it wouldn`t happen like that again, I guarantee that. I`ve never scored against United, but to do it in the cup would be right up there with the best goals of my career, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Let`s hope that the team can start scoring as two games without a goal are starting to get me a little worried!

  • i am worried too. we need more firepower…whether that is new strikers….or drumming some sense into our currnet team…i dont mind… long as it comes!!

  • No one is finishing terribly well, but AJ and Zamora are paid to do it. AJ has not justified the money we paid for him, but he’s scored some decent goals and am optimistic his form will improve. Zamora, on the otherhand, has botched some gilt-edged chances and his finishing issues have persisted all season. I’d like to see him snap out of it, but I’m not counting on it.

  • never 95% zamora more like 50/50 . but i just get fed up with him. 2 many missed that my nan would score!!!

  • it seems nevland is not a strong starter though…he is more of a super sub. but kamara is definitely gunna be on his back!!

  • Pressures on because my nans coming in a few weeks. I wouldnt mind if he didnt score because he didnt get any chances but he does and he bottles them. Because he tries hard aint good enough end of!

  • it’s not just that he tries hard, but his hard work benefits the team, holding the ball and working passes with aj and whomever… but i do hope his scoring form returns.

  • He definitely works hard and has certainly benefited the team overall. Without doubt, we’re better than we were last season. I don’t expect that he’s a prolific scorer; just a steady one. I don’t expect 20 goals. I expect him to be able to hit the target from 6 yards away.
