Fulham – The Future Looks Rosy!

Two Premier League wins on the trot, albeit against sides from different class ends of the league spectrum, has seen us make our best start for five years.

Watching the players leave the field on Saturday, I couldn’t help but feel we’ve turned a significant corner. Gone are the days when I feared a relegation battle, now I have every optimism that we can mount a charge for a finish in the top half of the table.

The side has a certain balance about it, a certain class about it that was missing during the reign of Lawrie Sanchez. There’s no denying that Roy has spent his money wisely, unlike the previous incumbent of the job.

We have a new strike force that looks sharp, lively and full of goals and we have a defensive that is starting to look more resolute with Brede Hangeland prominent at the hear of it.

It’s a fact that Roy picked up on in a post match interview, where he openly talked the future, commenting,

‘The investment Fulham have made could now stand us in good stead for the next couple of years.’

‘We are saying we can put together the nucleus of a team that will go further than one season and then it will just maybe need topping up in certain areas. Who knows, we might produce one or two players that get sold on for more than we paid for them.’

‘It is my job to convince the chairman that this is not an overnight thing, it is a thing that is going to take a bit of time.’

‘Of course he does like instant results, as all chairmen do, but he is very keen on the academy aspect of things.’

‘As far as I am concerned the goal is for Fulham to be a very stable Premier League club.’

I have this feeling that, in a few years time; we’ll recall the Hodgson era as the era we rediscovered ourselves and moved on from a club haunted by the constant fear of relegation.

Does anyone feel the same way?
