He went into the game having the reputation of being the person who had steered Spurs away from the disastrous start to the season and the man who could do no wrong, but football has a habit of kicking you where it hurts and he left West London with anything but a smile on that familiar face.
The opposition manager, Harry Redknapp, though did have the grace to praise Fulham for their performance in his post match interview commenting,
“It was a disappointing day.’
‘We started in second gear and suddenly looked like we were getting into the game until we gifted them a goal. “
‘Fulham started sharper than we did and deserved the win. Their front two of Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson were excellent. They gave us problems.”
Perhaps we should have termed it grudgingly praised!
