Anyone who is old enough to remember Joe Jordan when his playing career spanned periods with major players Leeds and Manchester United, as well as Scotland, will be only to aware that he can be a fearsome sight.

With that familiar snarl aided by those missing front teeth, Jordan terrorised many a defence during his career.

Therefore, it was a little surprising to see ‘Gentleman Roy Hodgson` stand his ground and not bow to Jordan`s reputation in a minor spat yesterday during the Fulham v Spurs fixture.

After the match Roy spoke about the reasoning behind the clash and his disappointment that Jordan reacted as he did remarking,

“Joe accused me of kicking the ball away which I did not do.’

‘I saw it as our throw and passed the ball to Paul but Joe said I kicked the ball away and stopped them taking a throw.”

‘He refuses to believe my story.”

‘It is a storm in a tea cup but it distresses me a little bit because that is not something I do. I have never done that in my career.”

‘I was a bit saddened that Joe accused me of it.’

Ignore him Roy, he`s suffering from sour grapes! Besides, we`ll take brains over brawn any day.
