He rarely makes the Fulham starting eleven but our Northern Irish striker remains a coveted asset for his national side.
Tonight, before once again appearing for his country, this time in a friendly, David will pick up an award for becoming the most prolific scorer in a European Championships qualifying campaign. His thirteen goals eclipsed the previous record held by Davor Suker.
The feat is a marvellous one and his international boss, Nigel Worthington, has, on the eve of the fixture, spoken out about his prolific scorer commenting,
“If a striker from a bigger country had done it people would have been shouting from the roof-tops.”
“Even if David`s not in his club side I won`t leave him out. He`s a goal scorer and vital to everything we do.”
