A Dream or simply Delusional?

Well that knocked the stuffing out of me!

There I was merrily contemplating our first trip up Wembley Way for many a year and a little over two hours later, the dream was over, wrecked by an incompetent referee and a Bolton side that defied recent form to snatch an away win.

Worryingly, despite playing reasonably well, we lost again. I`m starting to believe that it`s going to be one of them seasons, a season whereby we`ll look back and ponder exactly where the bright hopes extinguished to be replaced by doom and gloom and the inevitable battle to stave off relegation.

I thought this year could be our year in the Carling Cup. As soon as we drew Bolton I had this vision that the road to Wembley would open up, I even thought we`d be drawn at home to Luton in the next round, I was that confident that success was only a few fixtures away.

Now, with the Carling Cup over, all we have left to dream about is the FA Cup when it comes to dreaming of a top day out and the chance of silverware. Sadly, I`m not so optimistic when it comes to the FA Cup. The top teams tend to give it a higher priority whereas the Carling Cup is treated with disdain by many.

In all honesty I can`t fault the lads; I can`t fault Sanchez with regard to last night. He picked a strong team and they performed well, it just wasn`t meant to be, it just wasn`t meant to be the year we could all wander up to Wembley heralding a new era, an era whereby we could wave our flags and accept that the name of Fulham would be on everyone`s lips, well at least for a day.
