Following on from the 3-1 victory over Portsmouth at the weekend, our poll inevitably focussed on the potential candidates for your man-of-the-match.

Post match discussion, on the site, suggested that many of you thought that Simon Davies was an outstanding candidate due to his non-stop effort, running and the rugged determination he showed to push us past the finishing post.

Others thought that Erik Nevland was a more suitable candidate with his goals helping to establish his claims.

One of the leading Sunday tabloids implied that John Pantsil was in the reckoning courtesy of his defensive work that included a couple of marvellous last ditch tackles and blocks to deny Portsmouth.

As it turns out the results were:-

1st – Erik Nevland 38%

2nd – Simon Davies 19%

3rd – Clint Dempsey 17%

A worthy winner or would you beg to differ?

  • It’s hard to argue with 2 goals, but Davies set up both of Nevland’s goals and was clearly the most dangerous man on the pitch for Fulham. Regardless, I was certainly encouraged by the midfield display. Both Davies and Dempsey played brilliantly. If they keep it up, I don’t think we’ll miss Bullard at all. Pantsil still worries me, though. He was lucky not to give away a penalty against Nugent. I think the only thing that saved him was the fact that Nugent played the ball too far forward to get to it before Schwarzer claimed it. I think that’s the only reason the ref didn’t award the penalty.
