The path to the first team, following Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League, has suddenly gotten a lot harder for the youngsters coming through the system.
Retaining our Premier League status has to be the main aim this coming season and as a result, you get the impression youth, apart from the superb Ryan Sessegnon, will not be afforded many opportunities as far as the first team goes.
For many of our youngsters, it’ll mean a spell away from Craven Cottage, on loan, to further their careers.
One such youngster, Stephen Humphrys, after spending last season out on loan at Rochdale has already been informed that he will be spending the coming season, 2018 / 2019, at Scunthorpe.
Last season, whilst with Rochdale, Humphrys, a striker, made 18 appearances and scored 3 goals.
Talking about a loan move to Scunthorpe, Humphrys is quoted by the BBC, as having remarked,
“The team were successful last year and that’s something I want to be part of this season.
“The aim is to get into the team first of all. I want to score goals, get assists, work hard and get us pushing up near the top of the table.”
Here at Vital Fulham, we get the impression that the new season could be a make-or-break one for the 20-year-old striker, however, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish him well at Scunthorpe United and we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on how he progresses.
