Yet Another Away Defeat Leaves Fulham Facing The Inevitable

|

I’m sorry but I have to admit that the writing is well and truly on the wall.

Any lingering hopes I had that relegation back to the Championship, after just one season in the Premier League, could be avoided, were swept away on the south coast last night.

Taking on the team, Southampton, who were just one place above us in the Premier League, I thought it would be the ideal opportunity to get that elusive first away win of the season, in the Premier League.

How wrong I was!

Just when a performance was called for, our players failed to deliver again, producing a pitiful performance that suggested they’ve also given up the ghost.

Perhaps the only player exempt from criticism was Aleksandar Mitrovic who tried his hardest to get something out of the game for the club.

After the game, and as reported by the BBC, Claudio Ranieri was honest enough to admit what we’d witnessed wasn’t good enough, with the Italian remarking:

“It was not enough. We tried our best but every time we have to say the same thing – the first time in front of goal, the opponent scored.”

Yes, once again, our defence conceded two or more goals in a match.

Continuing, Claudio explained that the fight, to stay in the Premier League, must go on, further adding:

“We have to continue to fight until it is mathematically impossible. The confidence is not at the maximum level and it is not easy to react but I want them to react soon.”

Next up, on Sunday, is a visit from Chelsea, it’s a game we must get something out of, but haven’t I been saying that for the last six or seven games?

Can anyone see Sunday turning out differently?
