Last night, at Adams Park, Fulham ended any hopes Wycombe Wanderers may have had about embarking on a League Cup run to rival that which they went on back in 2008.

In that season Wycombe reached the semi-finals of the competition before being beaten, over two-legs, by our neighbours down the Fulham Road, Chelsea.

But last night, their ambitions were ended in the first round of the competition, a competition that now goes under the banner of the Capital One Cup.

However, it was a close game with Wycombe holding their own against us with the only difference between the two sides coming in the second half, when in the 69th minute Alexander Kacaniklic scored the only goal of the game netting after a swift Fulham counter-attack had opened up our League Two opponents.

In a game of few chances, Fulham thought they had taken the lead, in the first half, through Ross McCormack but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Our hosts created several half chances the best of which fell to Garry Thompson but he was unable to convert the chance.

On the back of the opening day draw against Cardiff City, Kit Symons made five changes for the tie last night and the Fulham manager will be happy that we`re through to the second round where we await news of who the draw will pair us with.
