“Won’t mind that”: Whites journalist believes Fulham can come away from Man City loss happy

|

It’s a bit weird to say given the fact we lost.

But I think you can qualify that as ‘mission accomplished’. I said before the game that it should really be a case of ‘damaged limitations’, and given the result and performance, it’s safe to say that we did exactly that. A 2-0 loss, one of the goals being a penalty so the margin could have been less. Give n the gulf between the teams, you couldn’t really ask for more.

And the reaction to the game from The Athletic’s Peter Rutzler seemed to reflect that, as he summed up the game at the Etihad yesterday:

So we’ve managed to get through one of the games unscathed, the question is whether or not it’s going to be the same process next week when we play Liverpool, or if we should try and take ‘a step forward’ as it were?

With fans in the ground, on a bit of an upturn after recent performances, would it be too hasty to suggest we could sneak a draw out of it? Possibly, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

What about you? What did you make of that result against Manchester City?
