Wolves 2 Fulham 1

Fulham gave the sort of performance that is becoming all too common this season – a lackluster one.

I can take losing if the team put up a gallant fight but today, well words almost fail me. If the performances given against Chelsea and Aston Villa were poor then this one was a lot further down the scale.

With nine players rested for the trip to Sofia, I expected Fulham to give the kind of performance that they gave in the second half against Everton.

With Paul Konchesky declared fit, the omens were good.

Its shame then that nobody read the script.

The first half was dreadful and the second not much better.

In our pre-match build up we warned about the danger Kevin Doyle might present and the striker duly opened the scoring for Wolves, on seventeen minutes, when he headed home a flick on, from a long throw.

Everyone expected s response but it never came, not a single shot on target.

Would half time see Roy Hodgson verbally lay into his squad, well apparently not or if he did it didn`t have the desired effect.

Possession was lost near the half way line and before we could regain it David Edwards had hit an effort into the top corner to put us 2-0 down.

I half expected the floodgates to open but we were thrown a lifeline after Bobby Zamora was pulled back by Michael Mancienne.

Mr Reliable from the penalty spot, Danny Murphy, made no mistake.

Despite the shabbiness of the display we almost, totally undeservedly, equalised but Elokobi was on hand to clear off the line from Zamora.

I truly hope we can up the ante against City, in the Carling Cup, in midweek otherwise I can see it being another tale of woe!

Someone please cheer me up!
