With Roy Hodgson having named his 23 man England squad for the up and coming World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland, the name of one man continues to be conspicuous by its absence.
Since Maarten Stekelenburg picked up his shoulder injury, in the opening game of the season up at Sunderland, David Stockdale has stepped into the void and performed an admirable job.
In fact, Stockdale`s form has mirrored that of when he was called up into the England squad several seasons ago, before an injury and a subsequent desire to play regular first team football (albeit away on loan) saw him never given the chance to join the squad again.
To me, his absence from the squad named yesterday, remains a mystery!
