Video replays / match officials, now

Is now the time for the FA/fifa to bring in video technology for match officials?

How many more £millions will clubs like Fulham lose because a referee has awarded a penalty that if he had had the chance to watch a replay immediately he would not have given it?

How many points have been lost because a referee has not awarded a penalty when he should have?

When will the FA/fifa realise that this is the way forward?

There have been many instances recently and in the past were a referee’s wrong decision has cost Fulham the match, most recently the Chelsea game when we were denied 2 stonewall penaties.

The Tottenham/Portsmouth game was a fine example of this yesterday when Didier Zokora fell over in the penalty area after a challenge from ex Spurs player Pedro Mendez, the Referee immediately awarded a penalty when after watching the replays it was obviously not a foul, I watched the replay and in my opinion Zokora was looking for a penalty and dived, hopefully Jol will have words, but if the ref had had the chance to review it he would have seen that there was no contact.

You could argue that it evens itself out at the end of the season, but does it?, in my opinion the ‘bigger’ clubs will always get the decision compared to us smaller clubs, the referee’s do not have the balls to go against the ‘bigger’ clubs. The referee does not necessarily have to run to the touchline every time there is an incident as the 4th official could advise the referee after watching the replays so as not to slow up the game.

I really think that now is the time for something to be done, this will stop some players attempting to manipulate the match officials to get decisions, there is too much at stake, but I can’t see the top 4 clubs wanting it somehow! can you?
