It’s strange how someone’s world can turnaround so quickly.

Take the case of our goalkeeper, Marcus Bettinelli.

Last season, after playing second fiddle to David Button, Bettinelli managed to oust his rival from the starting eleven to go on to play a pivotal part in our successful promotion campaign.

At 26-years-of-age, Bettinelli would have been looking to play a prominent part in our Premier League campaign.

However, the events of the summer have seen Bettinelli’s position at the club come under threat.

In what was a prolific transfer window, the club brought in two more goalkeepers, Fabrio and Rico.

For the first game of the season, against Crystal Palace, Bettinelli didn’t even make the eighteen man squad with Fabrio starting and Rico on the bench.

This morning, speculation has emerged, courtesy of the news vehicle, the Daily Mail that Bettinelli could be looking to leave Craven Cottage.

At 26-years-of-age, you can hardly blame him, he wants to be playing regular first-team football and doesn’t want to be standing in the background watching from afar.

But, whether the club allows the popular goalkeeper to move on or insists he competes for a place in the starting eleven remains to be seen.

What are your thoughts on the subject matter?

Has Bettinelli been treated badly or is it just the way things had to be as we seek to make an impact in the Premier League?

  • I think he and one or two other players deserved to be in the starting lineup to avoid a “ team of strangers”

  • Personally I believe that he has been treated in a terrible fashion.

The keeper on Saturday was dreadful and from what I read Rico is not much better.

Betts is a future England keeper, just what does the manager have against him?

    • If Bettinelli was fit then in my view he should have been selected. After his displays in the second half of last season he would have expected to have been given the nod. Fabri’s decision making against Palace left a lot to be desired and I don’t think that he is the answer between the sticks. I wonder if there is a personal issue between Bettinelli and Jokanovic. I am expecting that we will see Rico given an opportunity against Spurs.

  • Bettinelli is the best goalkeeper we have at Fulham. Fabrio was a load of rubbish on saturday

  • I don’t know where jok is coming from Betts was very consistent last year even making a vital save in our semi with derby . He should have been given the chance to cement a place in the prem. if he couldn’t then change . Fabric is not the answer he will be no good in the prem and made the back row nervous on Saturday. And what was he doing rushing off his line to Zaha
    Sunday football stuff.

  • God what the hell is the manager of fulham doing on Betts listen to your fans bring back Betts Saturday goal keeper is rubbish send him back waste of money I sure you won’t have happy players with the change let know your fans Saturday bring back our goal keeper please

  • Watched the game against palace Fabrio was absolute crap
    Another of Slavis pets.
If we find ourselves in the bottom 3 at christmas Slavi will be on his bike

  • Betts wears the badge with pride and loves Fulham.
Betts is loyal and has gone through the ups and downs and has been patient the last couple of years.
Betts is vocal with his back four and the rest of the team.
Betts distribution is much better than what we previously had or are seeing at the moment.
Betts is progressing all the time and has good positional awareness as a shot stopper with great potential.
Betts is familiar and settled with our style of play and organized.
Betts at deserves a chance and opportunity to prove himself at this level to say the least ………
It may work or may not but at least try it as we did like with Button last season that didn’t work but turned it around in that department when Betts came in. Unless there is some hidden agenda that we are not aware of as it doesn’t make sense.

  • Just cannot fathom the reason for dropping Bettinelli – unless injured or couldn’t train.
Playing an inferior custodian was the wrtong decision & bringing in two ‘keepers i.e. not one to replace Button I believe to be disrespectful when Bettinelli was such a stalwart last term.
Cannot believe we would weaken this key position for no obvious reason.
