Torn Between A Rose and A Thistle

|

A case of being torn between two countries.

By a strange quirk of the modern game, our very own Tom Cairney faces a difficult decision.

Although Cairney has played for Scotland twice, against Canada and Costa Rica, our 27-year-old midfielder is still able to play for England.

Apparently, you are not committed to a single country until you play in a competitive fixture for them, as opposed to friendly fixtures like Tom has.

Therefore, with Tom having a Scottish grandfather and an English mother, he is still able to exercise the option to commit himself to England.

With English talent being scarce at the moment, the Scottish Sun, is reporting that Gareth Southgate may test the waters and try and land the player for England.

As a consequence, we’re certain that Scotland will select Tom for the forthcoming UEFA Nations game against Israel, thereby confirming his commitment to the thistle.

But who will Tom choose?

Who would you choose given the same dilemma?

Me, I’d opt for England but then again being born in the south of our fine country might just affect my judgement.
