Gary Rowell, a Sunderland legend in his own mind, has lit the fires for one almighty ding-dong this Saturday.
Ahead of the clash with us he`s made some disparaging claims about our humble surroundings calling it the least intimidating ground to go to in the Premier League.
Mr ‘Know-It-All` reckons it`s been this way since the legendary Tommy Trinder ran the place giving the ground a feeling of fun and light-heartedness about it.
Well far from me to suggest any different but I`d like nothing less than to see our side ram those words down his throat and also our fine support raise the tempo a notch or two to silence the 3000 Mackem`s heading south.
Is it our fault we have a stadium in a prime residential area of one of the most affluent areas of London?
No it isn`t!
It sort of makes you wan to push Mr Rowell in the good old River Thames doesn`t it!
