So where we before a server malfunction so rudely interrupted us?

That`s tight, after a disappointing time in German football Brian McBride had decided to return to the USA to further his football career.

He`d subsequently been plucked from American football by David Moyes to play for Preston North End. Unfortunately, he suffered a bad injury that saw him return to the USA to rehabilitate.

Whilst back in the USA, Brian met his future wife, Dina Lundstrom and the relationship saw him face a teaser. When questioned about his career he was asked by Dina,

“Don`t you play soccer in England?”

McBride had to offer a candid reply for fear of ruining a blossoming relationship by replying,

“Not necessarily.”

Before adding

“I didn`t want her to think I was going back to England at the start of the relationship.”

As it turned out McBride had to return to Preston to finish his loan agreement. Obviously McBride impressed Preston as they wanted to sign him on a permanent basis but MLS rejected the offer allowing McBride to return to America to marry his sweetheart.

Fate was to play another part in his career though. David Moyes, a manger who had blossomed after McBride left Preston was given the managers role at Everton and the Scot had never forgotten the effort McBride had given him during that loan period.

McBride was to sign for Everton on a three month loan deal.

Speaking about the move McBride was to remark,

“This time we really wanted it to happen. We were prepared and excited about living in England.”

“Dina was very supportive. It was something I wanted and she was willing to help me. Long term, we knew it would put us in a better place for stability after soccer. And it also made us much closer – we relied on each other for everything.”

It looked as if McBride was finally to get that career that career, in England, he craved but when Everton tried to extend the loan arrangement MLS again turned it down and McBride was, once again, forced to return to Columbus.

So what lay in store next?
