Following the 4-0 defeat at Anfield, in a game where we could have been really hammered, Martin Jol had a few words for the Fulham faithful.

The Dutchman, fast losing the confidence of the support, had this to say,

‘It was a difficult afternoon. Goals change games but they scored twice from set-pieces. We then had a big hill to climb and they were the better team. After conceding the first two goals it was almost impossible to get back in the game.”

‘We were not good off the ball – they played around us and we needed more toughness and aggression, which is what we did in the second half. This is a side in the top three and four, so you try to get these games out of the way and try to get a result.”

‘There are a few players who will go off on international duty so that will not help. We couldn’t get a good result against a top side. The second half was not enough – you can’t start like that and concede goals like that. But we are still up for the fight.’

‘We’ve had a difficult schedule and the task here became too big after conceding two early goals. We do everything in training and then we make the same mistakes. It was very frustrating, not only for the fans but for me and the team. But I can’t come up with the same excuses, we played better in the second half, because in the end we did not get a result. “

‘If you concede goals here you have to open up a bit, but in the second half we tried to keep the damage down and that was the strategy. It was not enough for me and not enough for the team. I’ve got ambition and a mentality to win.’

It is okay to talk the talk Martin but this is the future of our club at stake here, if things aren`t changed soon then the exit door will, no matter how big a reputation you came with, beckon you!
