Thanks Bobby

And so it came to pass that, on a very sad day, Fulham and Bobby Zamora did part company.

After weeks of rumours that insisted all was not well between Martin Jol and Bobby, the club accepted a bid for Bobby from Queens Park Rangers for the player.

It appears that the fee accepted was anywhere between £4 million and £6 million, way below the price apparently stipulated by our owner when speculation arose that Bobby could be sold.

£6 million (at the top end of the reported range) still represents a bargain and once the deal had been concluded, late last night, Mark Hughes was quick to remark,

“We needed a player like Bobby.”

Whereas Bobby celebrated joining his fourth London club, commenting,

“It`s a new challenge and the chance to link up with Mark Hughes again, I enjoyed working with his style of play. The ambition of the club is massive and it`s the right time to move.”

And so it is with a heavy heart that we say cheerio to Bobby, a player who didn`t always get the accolades form the Craven Cottage supporters he deserved but a player we`ll, no doubt, miss!

Bon voyage Bobby, we thank you for all your wonderful efforts, all those wonderful goals and wish you good luck down the road in Shepherds Bush, but beware that relegation trap-door, it could well swing open for your new lot!
