Stockdale Progress

After being part of an Ipswich defence that conceded twelve goals in two games, seven at Peterborough and five at home to Sheffield Wednesday, things have settled down in recent matches for David Stockdale.

On Saturday Stockdale, on loan at the Suffolk club for the season, kept a clean sheet and in a post match interview spoke about doing so in front of the England goalkeeping coach, Ray Clemence, commenting,

“It was nice to keep a clean sheet in front of Ray.”

“I still feel like the new boy with England but every time I link up with them I look to impress.”

“It is an honour as an Englishman to join up with that team.”

With Paul Robinson having retired from international football and with Robert Green rumoured to be thinking of doing likewise, the opportunity is certainly there for David to establish himself in the England squad.
