He may have seen his hopes crash around his ears of playing in a Wembley Play-Off Final after his side lost a penalty shoot-out against Darlington but David Stockdale has a lot to be happy about.

The twenty-two year old keeper, who is set to join Fulham for a fee in the region of £500,000 spoke to the media, ahead of the game yesterday, to give the current situation with regards to his proposed move remarking,

“The deals 95% agreed and it`s good for Darlington as they`re getting a decent deal out of it and good for me to develop my career.”

“I`ve been to have a look round at Fulham and the goalkeepers there are just unbelievable so it will be a challenge to prove that I`m as good, but I`ll fight for a place.”

“You`ve got to set your sights high. Look at Joe Hart at Manchester City. He went there from Shrewsbury a few years ago and has established himself, so you never know.”

After witnessing Stockdale in action yesterday, I get the impression the youngster will have to bide his time before becoming our first choice.
