Not too long ago there was a rumour in circulation relating to Martin Jol being extremely interested in bring the Dutch keeper, Maarten Stekelenburg to Craven Cottage.

With, supposedly, Hull City wanting to take David Stockdale on a permanent basis and with our veteran Aussie, Mark Schwarzer, not getting any younger, it kind of made sense.

The only hindrance to such a deal though came with the announcement from his agent, Rob Jansen,

“There is no concrete offer but we know what is moving in the goalkeeping market.”

Which seemed to indicate it was all merely speculation.

However, this morning Stekelenburg is back in the headlines with it now being inferred that the 30 year-old Dutch international is now on Arsenal`s radar with a fee of £3.3 million being quoted.

Or is that just media induced speculation as well?
