Spurs v Fulham Preview

Fulham take the short trip to White Hart Lane this Sunday to complete their Premier League season. The game could see one of two scenarios develop. The first, a win for Spurs, would see our hosts qualify for the Champions League next season whilst the second, a Fulham win, would see Fulham attain their highest number of points in a Premier League campaign, in fifty-five. Chuck into the mixer the fact that the fixture gives Martin Jol the chance to return to the club where he was cruelly removed from office, should ensure it is an entertaining fixture.

Vital Quotes:

Ahead of the game, Martin Jol has recalled the time he spent at Spurs and his task of attaining Champions League football wasn`t something he felt was achievable, remarking to the tabloid journalists,

<>“At the time, Liverpool were still in the top four and you had Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.”

“So to tell me we had to be in the top four was a bit too much for us.”

But as for now, Jol continues,

“In the last three or four years they have spent a lot of money on the likes of Luka Modric, Van der Vaart and even Emmanual Adebayor, which was probably unimaginable when I was there.”

“We had different players then like Chimbonda, Erik Edman and Stephen Kelly and that is different to what they have now.”

“Spurs have wanted to be in the Champions League for the last six or seven years and they won`t be pleased if they don`t achieve that this year.”

“But I think they deserve to be there because they were in the top four all the time.”

But wouldn`t it be cute if we got a result an Spurs lost out!

Match Facts & Stats

Our record against Spurs, in the Premier League is poor with only one win in our last eleven encounters, perhaps we should take heart from a recent meeting in the FA Cup when we won 4-0!

Referee: P Dowd
Assistants: D Bond, A Halliday
Fourth Official: S Attwell

Match Prediction:

Although our away form has improved recently and although we have the added incentive of racking up a record points total since we`ve been in the Premier League, and we could quite possibly finish above Liverpool and Everton in the Premier League, finishing seventh, it`ll be a tough task! My heart tells me we can win but my head reckons it`ll be a draw at best.
