Soldiers Won’t Be Enough Fulham Need Some Much-Needed Guile

|

This weekend Fulham resume their fight to avoid relegation.

With 13 games left and with the club 7 points adrift of safety, time really is of the essence if relegation is not to be the end result of the 2018 / 2019 season.

But the first of those 13 games, on Saturday lunchtime, sees Fulham go head-to-head with an in-form Manchester United side who are looking to finish in a top-four place.

It’ll be a tough test for Fulham but one, hopefully, we don’t shy away from.

Indeed, we might even shock a few people, football is that kind of sport.

Ahead of the game and at his pre-match press conference, Ranieri is quoted by the BBC, as having remarked:

“We know where we are, we know it’s very tough and we need soldiers who fight until the end.

“We are ready to fight.”

Fine words for a team that is in our situation, but I’m not sure fighting will be enough, we need to show that guile that has been lacking since the first game of the season.

Whether that is possible with the squad we have, remains to be seen.
