Seol Ki-Hyeon started the season as a striker on Saturday, and marked this with an early goal against Hull to put Fulham ahead before the Premier League new boys came back to win 2-1.
The South Korean is usually used on the wing, but was used as a striker by Roy Hodgson during pre-season and started alongside Bobby Zamora in the season’s opener.
Despite rarely featuring as an out and out striker during his career Seol has said that he is happy to operate as such and will play wherever he is asked to play: ‘Since I came here I’ve played as a winger, but I will do what the manager wants me to do,’ Seol told the official website. ‘I played most of my career as a winger, but I have played as a striker before.
‘I want to play and I want to be part of the team, so it doesn’t matter where I play. The manager said I have something he likes as a striker, so I have to keep showing him why I should be picked.
‘I will keep trying and when I get the chances, I will try to score some goals.’
He just wants to carry on playing as much as he can and will keep giving his all in order to get chances, which he hopes to take. Seol hasn’t set himself, or Fulham, any targets this season but he desperately wants to improve on what was a poor season for himself and the club last time round, he added: ‘I haven’t set any specific targets for this season, but my aim is just to play as much as possible.
‘We struggled to stay up last season and I didn’t do anything for the team, so that was very disappointing for me. So my aim is to do my best and try to have more influence on the pitch.’
