He may only have joined us in the, still open, transfer window but veteran keeper, Mark Schwarzer, ahead of the season remains full of confidence.
With Roy Hodgson having signed two other keepers, Schwarzer knows that competition for places will be fiercer than ever and that his move form Middlesbrough might not be the swan-song he envisaged if he doesn’t perform to the top of his ability.
Nevertheless, it is good to hear Schwarzer commenting,
‘The club is definitely looking in the right direction to progress up the table.’
As an outsider looking in on the tribulations of last season, he may well have been hesitant in putting pen to paper but his outlook suggests he’s seen enough to promote a better season, for us, this time around!
