Schurrle Moves Quick to Dispel False Leaving Rumours

|

Once what some people see as inevitable happens and Fulham, at the end of the season, drop back down into the Championship, it’ll be interesting to see what shape the squad will take.

Will we see a mass exodus or do the contracts the plethora of summer signings put pen-to-paper to specify they’ll stay with the club but, possibly, on a reduced salary.

That’s a conundrum that we’re sure will unravel if / when the need arises.

However, according to one news source this morning, the German news vehicle, Kicker, one of our summer signings definitely won’t be hanging around.

According to our referenced source, our German forward, Andre Schurrle, currently at the club on a 2-year loan deal, will return to his parent club, Borussia Dortmund, if Fulham are relegated.

However, in another twist, it emerged courtesy of the BBC, that the inference that Schurrle would be off at the end of the season, if Fulham are relegated, was far from the truth with Schurrle blaming a newspaper for twisting his words to come up with a headline, with the German star quoted as having remarked, by our referenced source:

“It is not even close to what I said. Just very bad translating.

“Let’s stick together and fight ’til the end.”

Personally, for me, Schurrle is one of the summer signings that has flattered to deceive, he has shown flashed of brilliance but all too often he just drifts through games and doesn’t bring to the table that little extra that can influence a game.

When Schurrle signed, I was delighted that Fulham had gotten their hands on a World Cup winner, but it just goes to show it can be a case of horses for courses and Craven Cottage perhaps isn’t the right cause.

But, although his words are admirable, would he really fancy life in the Premiership after tasting World Cup glory?
