Sanchez Sacked!

The news will not come as a great shock to many!

After winning only two games out of seventeen this season there was always the chance that the axe could fall on the reign of Lawrie Sanchez as Fulham manager, even more so when you consider that in the twenty-two Premier League games we`ve been under his stewardship, we`ve won a measly three.

Having spent in excess of £25 million last summer, it`s fair to say that the club were expecting something other than a relegation struggle.

Therefore, although the statement from the club regarding the situation is a little terse reading,

“Losing Premiership status is a proposition that simply can not be contemplated.”

It is short, sharp and to the point. Falling into the Championship would be like falling into the abyss.

Indeed, in our recent poll we asked you, our readership, if you believed the reign of Sanchez was coming to an end?

With 84% suggesting that it was, the events of today simply highlighted the current predicament the board found themselves in.

Under normal circumstances we`d have preferred not to see Lawrie on the dole at Christmas but things move so fast in football that another three games could have proved to have taken us beyond the point of no return.

We here at Vital Fulham would like to congratulate the board on being so brave and we`d also like to wish Ray Lewington and Billy McKinlay every success as they attempt to guide our club to safety until a new manager is announced.

John Collins anyone?
