Ruing Missed Chances!

Following our failure to win, courtesy of a late Rickie Lambert penalty equaliser, Martin Jol had a few words for the media after the final whistle.

Jol, firstly commented on the yellow card Dimitar Berbatov picked up because of taking off his sihrt to reveal his t-shirt with the now famous Keep calm and pass the ball to me message and then how it all didn`t go quite to plan when he remarked,

“It was stupid to get a booking for that and I need to have a word with him about it.”

“But he wanted to make a statement and he`s right to do that because he`s telling the youngsters every day to play with confidence keep the ball and don`t be afraid to play.”

“Playing long balls straight up to Berba is not what he wants and it`s not what we want. We`re all disappointed if we don`t play in the style he wants us to.”

“Today we didn`t play well enough to deserve the three points. It wasn`t terrible but it wasn`t good enough to win.”

“When I am angry I`m like a thunderstorm, sometimes with myself and sometimes with the players. Today if we played the way we should have done we would have made it much more difficult for Southampton.”

“But you need to score more than one goal to make life easy for yourself and we didn`t do that.”

Once again we`re left to rue missed chances.
