As the old saying goes – there may be trouble ahead!

As the fixture against Manchester United came to a conclusion there was an unsavoury incident near the corner flag.

With time being wasted our own Sascha Riether appeared to lose his cool and kick through Adnan Januzaj, the young United forward. In the ensuing melee any number of player`s could have been cautioned.

But, replays of the incident show that Riether didn`t just kick through Januzaj but also stamped on the youngster. Whilst accepting there may have been an element of frustration about the act, it doesn`t excuse it.

The Football Association will, so we`re told, will now view the incident and see if it is worthy of reporting to the disciplinary panel.

If so, Riether could be the first player to be banned by this method. Talking about the incident and the possible loss of his player, Martin Jol has remarked in the media,

“If it is true, then we will have to talk to him,”

“Yes, it would be a disappointment to lose him for games but not a disaster.”

“I have got some good back-up players as well, so it is not a disaster.”

“The result against United was a disaster.”

It was, but the loss of Riether, despite what Jol says, will hit us hard!
