Report: Fulham set to make a ‘formal’ bid for Premier League defender in the coming days

|

Well, it’s a step in the right direction.

I just wish we hadn’t had to wait this long into the season and the transfer window to make it happen. Six points dropped in the first two games, whilst probably now eliminating us from the title race, might come back to bite us later on in the season if we’re in a relegation battle.

According to a report in The Athletic, Fulham are set to make a ‘formal’ bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth in the next few days as we look to solve our problem at centre-back.

Now it’s unknown at this point whether we would be looking to buy him or bring him in on loan or on a permanent deal, but either way I think that this is a smart move for the club to be making.

Is Foyth the answer to our problems?

Yes

No

I personally think Foyth is one of the better ‘up and coming’ centre-backs who has just had his progress at Spurs stunted with the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen ahead of him in the pecking order, but when he’s allowed to play, especially if you take a look at his numbers from the 2018/19 season, he really does make an impact on the team.

And if he can do that for a ‘top six’ side, then just imagine what sort of an impact he’ll be able to make for a club like us, both in terms of his attacking ability and in defence, and one thing’s for sure, based on what we’ve seen in our first two games this season, he’d be a major upgrade on what we’ve been getting out of the likes of Tim Ream and Denis Odoi alongside Michael Hector.

What about you? Do you think that the club should bring in Foyth?
